Closed 3.0 beta available


3.0 is getting ready, which includes a ~15-20% increase of the featurebase.
It'll be released freely just like before, but i don't know exactly when - i've got some other NES projects to tend to, too.

For now, I'm inviting anyone who wants to join the closed beta through my patreon.  Any paid tier gains early access. 

Among the features available in the closed beta:

  • Animation for metasprites
  • PNG support (finally)
  • Improved pen/place algorithm (corners between pixels act like 'deadzones', which improves the quality of strokes considerably, while still feeling freer than Aseprites' "perfect pixel" mode (which is great on its own terms)). 
  • An assortment of new "tile bucket" tools for rapid deployment of patterns on the screen/map canvas
  • Quad tile placement - places quads of tiles, tile selections, or metatiles, to help speed up coarse layout work
  • 8x tile grid; particularly useful for level design.
  • Command line options
  • Colour Rose - a new colour picking / planning / harmony analysis tool to make the most of the limited NES palette.
  • "Easy UI" mode - de-emphasizes the more advanced controls, to help focus on what's important to learn first.
  • Tons of glue, polish, & bugfixes.
